Welp, I got a call back from Ms. Lux about the space in the Colonial
Building (where Moose and Sadies is -- number 23 on
http://ry4an.org/oldenburg/locations/) and it's much cheaper than I
imagined. It's 719 sq ft -- slightly larger than the size of my bottom
floor and $719/mo including all utilities. Apparently $12/sqft means
per-year not per-month, so the numbers I've been seeing aren't as scary
as I thought. That space has original wood floors and beams and can be
sub-divided. The colonial has parking in back to which we may get
access as well. Unfortunately it's on the 4th floor and has no windows
-- which may very well make it an oven. Perhaps that's something we
could deal with as a starter space, but who knows.
I asked her about any other units she might have in the same price range
and she mentioned two places in the Textile Building (where Pizza Luce
is). There's a corner unit (with 2 walls of windows) that's 724 sqft
for $775/mo on the 3rd floor (#24) and another unit that's 956 sqft for
$1195/mo (negotiable) on the 4th floor. Unfortunately, parking at Luce
is ass as we all know. She's mailing me availability sheets on all
these.
I'm still most excited about #5 on our chart (the one with the Montana
coffeehouse in it) and will call them today, but in general I'm
encouraged at how reasonable pricing is.
I'm gonna aggregate and report the survey numbers soon, so if you
haven't filled it out please make sure you do, and feel free to forward
the survey location to anyone whose input you think might be
representative of potential members even if that specific person isn't
likely to join.
