 From perusing the faqs, my understanding is that having  
joebob at mn_std01 will simply, from then on, identify you as joebob.  
Whereas if you leave it out, you will be identified as Player #3 or  
whatever. At least, until powers are assigned.  I don't believe it  
makes a whit of difference as to what power you get.

Other than that, I believe to set your preference you go:

JOIN mn_std01 yourPassword OrangeBubble
set preference AEFGIRT
  	SIGNOFF
