First off I'd like to apologize for pre-registering but failing to show
for the game last weekend, unfortunately I had an unavoidable conflict
that came up a few days before. That said I'm glad that you were all
still able to pull off a full 7 player game and wish that I had been
able to be one of them.
As a mostly regular player I'd like to say that I would have no problem
with extending the time limit on the game, though I don't think an
indefinite or "we'll continue this later" game will work very well.
Playing from 10 am - X pm poses no issues for me as we plan far enough
in advance to make it work around schedules (this coming from someone
who couldn't make it due to a schedule conflict).
I'd have no problem playing somewhere other than The Source, while I do
like playing there, nothing ties me to it. It is MUCH preferable in my
eyes to play somewhere that will not limit us to a time than moving a
game or forcing a possible early ending. At the same time I don't have
a burning desire to be the last man standing either and don't really
have a problem with 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or even 7 player ties, but perhaps
that is because I've never been "the last man standing".
Whatever is decided it definitely needs to be agreed upon by all
players prior to starting the game.
I would say that if we are going to start at 10 am, then having a
"no-shame" for leaving policy is a good idea, though 7 pm is a bit
late, I'd say anything after 4 pm (to accommodate those players who do
not want to use more than 6 hours of their precious weekend play dip)
should qualify for the "no-shame" time limit, 5 pm at the most.
The 6 centers thing might make more sense to me if it is explained in
more depth and I have no idea what DIAS means. If someone does leave
early I like the idea of their units going to civil disorder or using
standing orders than going to a proxy as I feel it is more realistic
and does not give any remaining player an advantage over any other. I
think letting someone outside the game or who has already lost back in
should not be an option, I agree with Ry4an that it would change the
game dynamics way to much (even though I relish the thought of getting
back into a game).
Lastly I'd be more than willing to try out an online DIP game, though
need to warn people that it would be my first experience at such.
Here's hoping that we can all have fun again in less than 30 days.
