Hey Ryan, did you ever find any articles about the Classical variant?  I 
looked a bit and couldn't find any.  I did fire up RealPolitik and looked at 
another map from the Pouch site and have concluded that Thebes is not 
actually connected to the Sea of Alexander.  I think all that really meant 
was that I would've held Thebes from you and Louis one year longer than I 
did.  Anyway, I had fun also and it was my first time playing face-to-face 
which was quite a trip.  I'm very used to playing PBEM with week long 
deadlines which provides for a lot more time to study the map and make 
intricate plans.

As far as a December game goes, I would prefer the Saturday after Christmas, 
but my input should not be given (much?) consideration as I don't yet know 
how much time I'll spend in the Cities around the holiday.
